No measles exposure at Sharp urgent care in La Mesa, official says

LA MESA, Calif. — A suspected case of measles that prompted Sharp Rees-Stealy La Mesa Urgent Care to close early Wednesday was later determined not to be the disease in question.
Doctors at Sharp Rees-Stealy Urgent Care and Rady Children’s Hospital Emergency Department along with County of San Diego health officials made the determination, John Cihomsky, vice president of public relations and communications for Sharp HealthCare said in an email.
“Further evaluation showed that the symptoms were not consistent with measles, and there is no need for any additional action,” Cihomsky said.
The scare had prompted the facility to close more than two hours early, at 5:45 p.m., Bruce Hartman, director of marketing and communications for Sharp Grossmont Hospital, confirmed to FOX 5 in an email. The location normally closes at 8 p.m.
