Officer-Involved Shooting Blocks Corner of Little Italy

A San Diego man who jumped onto a vehicle and yelled at a driver in Little Italy Saturday was involved in a confrontation with a San Diego police officer that resulted in a shooting, San Diego police officials confirmed.Brent Zadina,30, was spotted without a shirt near the corner of India and Ash streets just before 7 p.m. March’s First Winter Storm Brings Scattered Downpours Several people flagged down an SDPD officer and reported Zadina was acting belligerently, walking into traffic, police said.When the officer approached Zadina, the man was on the roof of a vehicle and yelling at the driver, police said. The stun gun was not effective, police said.”At one point during the struggle the officer feared for his life,” said Lt. Mike Holden. “The officer fired one round from his handgun, but missed the suspect.” Man Tried to Get in Truck with 2 Young Girls Inside: Report Several police patrol cars were at the corner of India and Ash streets for several hours during the investigation.SDPD officials confirmed the officer involved was not injured.Zadina was transported to a nearby medical facility for observation, police said.The shooting happened right in front of Music Box, according to an NBC 7 News crew that is on the scene.The management released the following statement:”Music Box wishes to inform our fans and neighbors that we had absolutely no involvement with the police incident that occurred in front of our facility this evening, Saturday March 3rd, 2018. No customer, employee or performer had any involvement or relationship with the occurrence. Any reports to the contrary are erroneous.
