Applications for the La Mesa-El Cajon Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) are currently being accepted.
La Mesa-El Cajon AAUW offers scholarships to female students in the Cuyamaca Community College District and at San Diego State University.
The latest scholarship is in honor of former member Carol Lundquist and open to female students who plan to teach.
Recently the La Mesa-El Cajon branch was recognized for meeting the criteria that allowed it to reach 5-star recognition, a demonstration that the branch met with national goals of fostering and ministering the advancement of gender equity for women and girls.
This is the third year in a row the branch has achieved that designation.
