The city of El Cajon Veterans Coalition has named its 2023 Veteran of the Year, Lewis Biszant.
Biszant and other veterans will be honored during a Veterans Day ceremony Nov. 11.
According to the city, “Biszant is an Army veteran who, after his military service ended, lived on the streets of El Cajon for several years. He changed the direction of his life after committing to the East County Transitional Living Center and the Single Men’s program. While in the program, Mr. Biszant took on several leadership roles and eventually became Campus Advisor. After years of volunteering at ECTLC, he was hired to his current role as Outreach Director and Men’s Program Director.”
“Biszant spends much of his time talking to homeless veterans, connecting them with service providers and other resources to help get them back on their feet. He also works with the District Attorney’s Resource Fairs to draw resource providers to several locations in El Cajon. Mr. Biszant is also a pastor at Christian Fellowship of El Cajon.”
The Veterans Day ceremony is hosted by hosted by American Legion Post 303. The Main Street Flag Program will display over 160 flags on Main Street in recognition of veterans.
The event is at 11 a.m., Nov. 11 at El Cajon Centennial Plaza in front of City Hall.
